How the apostille cost calculator works

Every apostille order has three cost layers: the government fee charged by the issuing authority (usually the Secretary of State, or the US Department of State for federal documents), the service fee we charge for review and handling, and the pass-through cost of shipping and, when required, certified translation and embassy legalization. This estimator adds those layers together based on the state, document type, and destination country you select, then shows the total for each of our three tiers so you can compare apples to apples.

Government fees range from $6 per document in some states to $20 per document at the US Department of State, plus $8 per document for California. Non-Hague destinations add embassy legalization fees that vary from about $50 (Vietnam) to well over $200 (UAE, Qatar, China). We publish those pass-through fees at cost — you can see the current published rates on our pricing page and the country-specific breakdowns in the destination-country library.

After you have a number in mind, run our free document pre-check to make sure the version of the document you already own can actually be apostilled — many rejections come from ordering the wrong kind of copy, not from the apostille process itself. If you're not sure which tier fits, the how it works page walks through what happens inside each package.
